About Us

I am a local transplant, or a Trooper. When a Yooper moves below the bridge, we become Troopers! I am from Marquette originally but moved to Harbor Springs over 30 years ago. I have been here long enough to know too many people and also be considered a local.

I have been working in the trades for most of my life and I am currently a Licensed Contractor in the State of Michigan. I completed a 120-hour Professional Real Estate Home Inspection Certification program, through the Inspection Certification Associates (ICA) even though the State of Michigan doesn’t have any licensing requirements for home inspectors. Which kind of blows my mind! Home Inspection course even though the State of Michigan doesn’t require Home Inspectors to take these classes or be licensed. I have done many home inspections for friends and family over the years so this is an easy transition for me.

Services

Residential Home Inspections

The focus of the General Home Inspection is on the structural, mechanical, and electrical conditions of the home. We do a thorough inspection of your residential home or commercial property. Focusing on the following: Exterior (roofing, windows, siding), Interior (structural), Plumbing, Electrical and HVAC. We also work with homeowners by identifying any issues before putting their home on the market.

We offer the use of Infrared Thermography as part of every inspection. Infrared Thermography is a home inspection tool that takes advantage of thermal differences on surfaces, to detect faults in various systems in a building. It can be used to inspect the insulation system, the plumbing system, or the electrical system. It can also be used to detect cracks in walls, and water leakages on the roof.

Every inspection is completed within 24-48hrs. You will receive a detailed report with high resolution images to help paint a comprehensive overview of your property.

Radon Testing

“The Surgeon General of the United States, Richard Carmona, issued a Health Advisory about the health risk from exposure to radon in indoor air. He urged Americans to test their homes to find out how much radon they might be breathing, Dr. Carmona also stressed the need to remedy the problem as soon as possible when the radon level is 4 pCi/L or more. Dr. Carmona noted that more than 20,000 Americans die of radon-related lung cancer each year.”

It’s important to know that the threat of unsafe levels of radon in your home are completely preventable. Radon testing can be administered throughout your home and the air quality can be brought into safe levels through the use of well-established venting techniques. Beauchamp Home Inspections is fully certified to test for radon in your home or commercial dwelling.

Radon is an invisible, odorless, tasteless, radioactive gas. Radon is a naturally occurring gas that is all around us, however when it is concentrated in a contained space (a home) it becomes a major health risk. In fact it is second only to smoking as a leading cause of lung cancer. By performing quality air testing we can provide you with the information you need to keep your family safe.

Mold Inspections

The bottom line is Mold will harm you and your loved ones! Mold can affect people with or without common allergies and may cause respiratory issues from exposure. “Mold is a non-scientific term for many types of fungi – unwanted, unappealing patches of black, brown, yellow, pink, green, smelly fuzzy growths. Countless species of mold are found both indoors and outdoors.”

“Black mold spores host a fungus that produces carcinogenic “mycotoxins” that are linked to ailments such as liver cancer, lung cancer, chronic liver damage, acute or chronic nervous system damage, endocrine problems, and others.”

If you’re purchasing a new home, you will not be able to tell if there has been a history of water damage just by what you can see. Having a certified professional do a basic air quality test can expose any mold problems that may be lurking from past water damage. The air we breathe has a direct impact on our personal health.
